Bank of America Hosts Pep Rally to Kick-Off Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament

27 February 2006

WHAT: As the "Official Bank of the CIAA," Bank of America will host a

pep rally to kick-off the Central Intercollegiate Athletic

Association (CIAA) Basketball Tournament and generate excitement

for the competing teams. At the rally, Bank of America will

donate $200,000 to the CIAA Scholarship Fund, which benefits

students attending CIAA member institutions.

The CIAA is the nation's oldest historically black athletic

conference consisting of 12 colleges and universities. Bank of

America's support of the CIAA furthers the bank's strong

commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, to

which the bank has contributed more than $15 million in recent

years.

Bank of America's three-year sponsorship of the CIAA also serves

Charlotte's economy. CIAA officials estimate that more than

110,000 people will attend this year's tournament, which is

expected to result in $12 million in revenues to city retailers

in the first year alone.
