Inaugural 'Storm At Your Service' Event this Thursday

14 July 2006

SEATTLE - Storm players and coaches will serve guests during a special event at EMP's Revolution Bar & Grill (325 5th Ave. N., Seattle) from 5:30-9 p.m. this Thursday, July 6. The inaugural "Storm At Your Service" event will feature players and coaches greeting and seating guests, taking meal orders and tending bar.

The Revolution Bar & Grill will donate 10 percent of the entire day's proceeds to the Sonics & Storm Foundation to help support the fundraising drive for Camp Korey - a proposed, local Hole in the Wall Camp. The event will also include a silent auction featuring autographed Storm memorabilia with those proceeds also benefiting Camp Korey.

"The Sonics & Storm Foundation is proud to be associated with Camp Korey," said Storm Chief Operating Officer Karen Bryant. "Storm At Your Service is the perfect fundraising event to introduce our supportive and generous fans to the foundation's newest community partner."

Camp Korey will help build self-esteem and confidence in children and young adults with serious medical conditions, while providing a fun, exciting and safe environment. The camp will provide outdoor activities, sports, arts and crafts and more. Campers will stay for a full week free of charge. The camp is scheduled to open in summer of 2008 and will serve children and families from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

"We are so grateful for the unwavering support shown by the players, management and staff of the Sonics & Storm Foundation to help make the dream of Camp Korey a reality," said Camp Korey founder Tim Rose.

The Sonics & Storm Foundation has made a multi-year financial commitment to Camp Korey. Dozens of individuals, corporations and foundations are offering pro bono services and support to the Camp Korey project.

Hole in the Wall Camps was founded by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman in 1998. Hole in the Wall Camps annually serve more than 10,000 seriously ill children and young adults. Fans are encouraged to call 206-770-2777 for reservations to the Revolution Bar & Grill. For additional information about the "Storm At Your Service" fundraising event, fans can log on to storm.wnba.com.

The Seattle Sonics & Storm organization manages the Puget Sound region's professional basketball franchises - the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and the WNBA's Seattle Storm. The organization oversees all sales, marketing, finance, public relations and basketball operations for the teams. The Basketball Club of Seattle LLC owns both teams.
