Storm to Host Kids Day Celebration Tuesday

18 July 2006

SEATTLE -The Seattle Storm will welcome thousands of young fans to KeyArena on Tuesday, July 18 when the Storm take on the Sacramento Monarchs in a special noontime game. This special Kids Day event, highlighted by team mascot Doppler's birthday celebration, will include numerous activities and giveaways geared towards children. The fun begins on KeyArena's West Plaza at 10:30 a.m. with game time at 12 p.m.

The day's festivities on the Key's West Plaza will feature face painting, sign making and basketball games on the Storm's portable SnapCourt. Free beverages will be served by the Starbucks Chill Patrol. Radio Disney will also be on hand to host auditions for its "Shorter Reporter" contest, with one lucky winner receiving the opportunity to interview a Storm player or coach prior to an upcoming home game.

In honor of Doppler's birthday, five other WNBA mascots will be on hand to join in the celebration. Doppler and his mascot friends will be signing autographs on the plaza at 11:10 a.m. before receiving their special introductions prior to tipoff. At halftime, Doppler and friends will engage in a game of mascot dodgeball. Doppler's Mini, courtesy of Northwest Mini, will also be on the plaza prior to the game.

The first 5,000 kids through the KeyArena doors will each receive a free Storm Bucket Hat. In addition, the Kids Day game will feature special Kids Cart concession stands with all snacks and beverages selling for $1 per item.

Tickets for Tuesday's game are still available and can be purchased through TicketMaster, by logging on to storm.wnba.com or by calling 1-877-WNBA-TIX. Storm tickets are also available at the Sonics & Storm Team Shop located at 312 First Ave. on KeyArena's West Plaza.

The Seattle Sonics & Storm organization manages the Puget Sound region's professional basketball franchises - the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics and the WNBA's Seattle Storm. The organization oversees all sales, marketing, finance, public relations and basketball operations for the teams. The Basketball Club of Seattle LLC owns both teams.
